Nearly 60 dancers and their families from Chehalem Valley Dance Academy attended the Spotlight Dance Cup Regional Competition this past weekend at the Oregon Convention Center.
Some highlights include many first time soloists competing, new groups dances making their debut, and overall very positive and supportive camaraderie!

SOME BIG NEWS!!!
Congratulations to Bridget Derville-Teer for scoring a diamonds on both of her solos, being the highest scoring Senior solo (over nearly 125 entries), earning the Cut Above Award for her Self-Choreography Solo, winning the Senior Dance Down (out of nearly 150 dancers), AND for earning the title of Senior Miss Spotlight Portland!!!
We are so proud of Bridget’s dedication to the studio, her training, and to mentoring the younger dancers. She has shown true character in her perseverance, balance, and commitment to excellence in every aspect of her life. Congratulations Bridget!!!
We are also super proud of our Newberg Elite group for earning a diamond and 3rd Overall Highest Scoring Junior Duo/Trio! These girls have worked hard this year and love having Bridget as an assistant in class!
AND – we are super proud of Lillie for being the Ruby Dance Down Finalist for 12 and under! She beat nearly 125 other dancers!!! Girl – you rocked it!
Another group we are proud of is MAC’s Teen Large Group “Stop.” They earned their first ever diamond!!! Amanda did a great job choreographing a dance with a message and the girls committed and performed beautifully. <3
And lastly, Kristen earned the choreography award for both “La Plage,” the Elite Trio with Abby, Emma, and Sydney, and “Time,” Emily’s Contemporary solo. The competition awarded approximately 10 of these awards all weekend and she is absolutely thrilled to have earned 2 of them! It is one of the highest honors and after committing to creating better choreography this year – she is feeling the love!
